Rereading the Spirit of Seonbi, scholars of the Goryeo and Joseon periods
Korea was a country of seonbis. There were a number of great seonbis from the three kingdoms period to the modernization period. Among the many seonbis, we have selected representative figures based on ten virtues. We also considered that we need to have 21st-century-oriented seonbis who can catch the spirit of the day from each field and that the National Library of Korea is supposed to encourage people to read. The ten virtues include 'wise leader', 'exemplary figure', 'asceticism', 'fidelity', 'taste for the arts', 'integrity', 'reformation', 'save-the-nation drive', 'morale', and 'reading'. The virtues and the figures that are not covered this time will be presented in the future.
