    On Friday, July 4, 2026, Vicki McDonald, the president of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), visited South Korea to inspect Busan, the candidate city for the 2026 World Library and Information Congress (WLIC). She visited the National Library of Korea, met with the Chief Executive Kim Hee-seop, and spent time with the library staff.

    • The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) has more than 1,500 member libraries and related organizations from 150 countries around the world. Every year, IFLA holds the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) in major cities to discuss important library issues and to help build an international network among library professionals.
